BACKGROUND
Lead singer, songwriter and creative muse Kristin Fairfield
is a sweet chick with plenty of thunder (-- and yeah, a pussy
too).
Kristin started Thunderpussy
as a 70s cover band; got tired of singing other peoples
music; and decided to return to writing and performing original
material.
While
Thunderpussys message
is loud and clear (and makes an excellent party mix) Kristin
is still transforming itself into
whatever it wants
to become!During her first stage appearance in 1997, Thunderpussy
entertained its audience with cover tunes such as I Will Survive,
Hot Stuff and other 70's classics. Gloria Gaynor and Donna
Summers tunes were the closest Kristin could get to
singing about blatant sexuality.
Like Virginia Slims, theyve come a long way, baby.
Influenced by Magnolia Thunderpussy (the origin of the bands
name), the daring baker who created sexually themed pastries
in the 60s, Thunderpussy is now rolling the dough wide and
thin and exposing societys sexual hang-ups in a bright,
hot spotlight.
With her first CD release June 2003 CD (Thunderpussy Forever),
Kristin cut the umbilical cord with the cover band she had
originally been and launched herself as a powerful
new voice in the Bay Area music scene. The album shocked,
turned on, and inspired legions of fan to cut loose and embrace
their sexuality. Filled with frank and witty lyrics set to
irresistible dance beats, the album immediately captured a
wide audience eager to hear its message.
After that explosive debut and a year-long tour the band finally
ended its Thunderpussy Forever show with an audience of 17,000
at the Exotic Erotic Ball.
Kristin headed back into the studios with a mission: Raise
the stakes and take Thunderpussy
into new territory. The result: The Slut Diaries. The second
album, released in 2005 celebrated and amplified the message
of positive sexuality that fans craved.
With more of Kristins trademark smut funk, The Slut
Diaries was also slightly more sophisticated in its musical
message. As the album unfolds, the songs alternate with narration
by Kristin, sharing her secret thoughts as she writes in her
diary including a highly controversial criticism of
Christianity's view of sexuality.
The new disk, released in December 2006, is fascinating audiences
all over again. The new CD redefines party music with groovy
techno, pop funk, classic rock and hip-hop influences and
builds on the Thunderpussy philosophy that encourages sexual
awareness, exploration, and freedom.
